HOW YOU CAN HELP THE HAYS HOUSE OR BECOME A TOUR GUIDE
The Hays House is a continuing community involved project. Interested residents serve the Hay
House in many capacities--tour guides, garden maintenance, promotions, organizing and
participating in special events, and fund raising projects. Schools, civic and special interest clubs,
Boy Scouts and other adult and youth groups have completed service projects. We have many
other projects that could be undertaken by individuals and groups. Some projects are suitable
for Eagle Badge projects.

| Valorie Baker earned a cash award for herself and the Hays House
from the Soroptomist International of Bel Air for her volunteer work at the Hays House as a docent.
Valorie is second from the left. Valorie's parents are at the extreme right and left.
Mary Baker is also a docent. Stephanie Borneman, who nominated Valorie,
is second from the right. (Spring 2006) |

BECOME A HAYS HOUSE TOUR GUIDE
DO YOU LOVE HISTORY?
Do you love old buildings?
Do you want to be a part of something special in Harford County?
Then, become a docent (tour guide) at the Hays House Museum. You will
be part of a team
that guides visitors through Bel Air's only Colonial Period house that is open to the public. The
Hays House is open on Sunday afternoons, and you will be "on duty" approximately once every
six weeks. Training is provided. Colonial costume is optional, but encouraged.
Be part of this project to educate, and to preserve our history . . . for us and for our
children!
Thank you for any help that you can provide.
